Bandung, Indonesia - The Magnificent Land

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you heard the word “Bandung”?
Perhaps air bandung? Mee bandung? Shopping?
Bandung is the capital of West Java and is well known for its factory outlets amongst malaysians. My perception of Bandung totally changed the second when Izzatul (dear friend of mine) took me for a ride in a public bus from her uni to the city. Poverty was all over the real canvas.

Accommodation :
Oh I stayed with Izzatul during my visit. Pondok Mulana, somewhere in a suburb near the Padjadjaran University. I am sure there are hundreds of hotels/motels in the city.

Tour :
Izzatul took me to the famous Tangkuban Parahu. It is an active volcano and the minute you got out from your car, you will experience the true scent of kentut (flatus) ;-p Since the volcano is active, it emits sulphur gas that smells like rotten egg. So preggies, please just stay at home and watch Martha Stewart or Oprah ;-)

There are many factory outlets in the city but I couldn’t remember the exact street where they are located. There is also Pasar Besar ( Huge/Big/Large Market) which is always crowded. I don’t really fancy the market because it is too congested with people/shoppers and also pickpockets. Beware! Make sure you have a secret stash glued to your body eyh.
Paris Van Java is one of the famous mall in Bandung. It is quite similar to KLCC where you could find labels such as Aigner etc. I would say just go to experience such comfy mall in Bandung but you don’t have to spend while you’re there ;-)

Food :
Please taste the es lapangan tembak senayan! Something you won’t get in Malaysia kot. It has small pieces of bread, lychee etc. Superb!

Murtabak Jalanan. Quite crispy though. They usually sell this at night just by the road side. The murtabak is too oily. But hey it is something different so why not. You don’t have to eat the whole thing by yourself, share it! Afterall, sharing is . . . caring!

Transportation:
The best way to get around city is by Angkut. It is actually a small van minus the passenger door. Very cheap but a little bit uncomfortable. Who cares eyh, experience that matters most!
